The future of the world is going to be technology driven and knowledge driven. The Mechanical Engineering Department at GIET has the most modern infrastructure to undertake high-end teaching, research and developmental activities in its laboratories like fluid Mechanics, Hydraulic Machinery Lab, Metallurgy and Metrology lab, Production Engineering lab, Heat Transform lab, Thermal Engineering lab, Workshop Technology lab, CAD-CAM lab etc.., besides highly experienced faculty. The department of Mechanical Engineering will lead broadest areas from cars to computers, from microchips to motorways including surgical robotic systems.

The Mechanical Engineering Department is headed by Mr. Aamer Sohail. He published many papers in reputed National and International Journals and earned many awards from technical and entrepreneurial organizations for visionary contributions towards research in the core field. He has done a project approved by the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India at Nuclear Fuel Complex, Hyderabad on Pilger mill toolings at Tool Room NFC. He has attended many workshops and seminars wherein technical knowledge and teaching-learning skills are enhanced.

The faculty as well as the student community of this department are encouraged and motivated by the Head and the Management to attend workshops, seminars and conduct the same at the campus in order to keep pace with the fast-moving competitive world advancing towards excellence.

PMKVY- Vehicle assembly fitter technician course (an AICTE approved and Ministry of HRD Govt. of India initiative) is also conducted at regular intervals for underprivileged students who cannot make it to the corporate due to unavailability of opportunities. This course is a citadel of social upliftment for imparting technical skills and leading society for inclusive and sustainable growth.
